Le bbs est un autre forum, anglo/américain. Des questions sur les N° moteurs il y en a souvent, pour consulter les archive du bbs, il suffit de s'inscrire. C'est en anglais.

Not strictly MGB, but I was hoping someone may have some answers. I have a friend with a Kit Car that I believe is fitted with a Morris Marina engine. The engine is not in bad shape, doesn?t burn much or rattle to badly, but it wont run smoothly and lacks power compared to my B. The engine number is on a brass plate 18V F-H 28456-468, KENT 715 +20, the Kent part I assume is the cam. The rocker cover is aluminium and has TC (I think for twin carb) cast into it. The car is fitted with a single carb and the inlet manifold and exhaust are all one casting. I am wondering if this engine should have a twin crab set rather than the single crab and that is whey we can get it to run smoothly. If anyone could advise what the specification of the engine should be I would much appreciate it.

Single crab? Is that for going round bends sideways? And a twin crab ditto but faster?
Sounds like that engine number plate is an aftermarket stamping so could contain any inaccuracies. Apart from possibly the very first version all 18V engines should have a three-digit number after the 18V and before the suffix letters and serial number to denote the spec. I suppose it could be the '468' in this case. Likewise the rocker cover.
